Eugene Kashper is the Chairman of Pabst Brewing Company, America’s largest independent brewer. He brings over twenty years of experience in the beer industry, including creating and/or launching more than 50 brands of beer and beverages. Eugene served as both Chairman and CEO of PBC from 2014-2016. During this period PBC has strengthened its sales and distribution platform, forged exciting new partnerships with Small Town Brewery, Tsingtao, Vermont Hard Cider Company, and Dog Tag Brewing, and experienced significant revenue growth.
Prior to PBC, Eugene served as Chairman of Oasis Beverages from 2008 to 2014. Oasis operates five brewing and soft drink plants in Eastern Europe with annual sales of approximately 5.4 million U.S. barrels. The company has had great success revitalizing heritage brands and also produces several international beer and beverage brands under license including Bavaria, Oettinger and Carling.
Eugene began his career in the beer industry in 1994 with The Stroh Brewery Company of Detroit, Michigan in international sales, where he worked with many current PBC brands, including Old Milwaukee, Schaefer, Schlitz, Colt 45, and Stroh’s. He graduated from Columbia University in 1992. Eugene resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
A seasoned beer industry veteran with a deep understanding of the U.S. beer market, Simon joined Pabst as CEO on December 1, 2016.
Before joining PBC, Simon was President/CEO of Duvel Moortgat USA, where he led the transformation of the company’s U.S. craft brewing business into a respected leader in the craft beer segment. He was instrumental in building the high-end success of Duvel Moortgat’s Brewery Ommegang in Upstate New York, and established Duvel Moortgat’s partnerships with Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City, MO and Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, CA. He also led the development of Duvel Moortgat’s import brand portfolio including Duvel, La Chouffe, Liefmans, and Mardesous.
Prior to joining Duvel Moortgat, Thorpe led various private equity projects in Europe and was formerly head of strategy, M&A and new markets for InBev and President & CEO of InBev USA. His career has spanned beer, support services, art and stationary, food, and personal care categories in the Americas, Europe and Asia, including senior management positions with Compass, Crayola and Kellogg’s. His early career was with Tambrands and Unilever.
Thorpe was born and educated in England and has spent 12 years living in Belgium and 19 years in the USA. He recently moved to Los Angeles, where Pabst is headquartered, with his wife Kati and son Henry.
Bruce joined Pabst in 2010, as General manager of the Southeast Division, and was promoted to Vice President Sales-East in August 2013. Bruce is responsible for the leadership of sales and distribution management across 28 states. Prior to joining Pabst, he spent 20 years at Miller Coors in sales leadership roles as General Manager and Region Vice President. Previous to MillerCoors, he held various sales leadership roles at Cadbury Beverages, and PepsiCo. Bruce is passionate about developing strong teams, and building a winning culture. He is an advocate for the three tier system, and enjoys working with distributors across the country.
As Pabst Brewing Company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dan McHugh is responsible for overseeing all marketing activity for a portfolio of over 30 national and regional brands. With over 25 years in the beer business, Dan’s extensive experience includes running some of the biggest beer brands in the world.
Before joining Pabst, Dan spent 21 years at Anheuser-Busch where he worked his way through the ranks in various marketing roles culminating in leading the brand management team as VP, Trademark Brands. His responsibilities included the marketing and day to day management of the Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, and Bud Light Lime brands to name a few.
After overseeing the brand marketing teams at Anheuser-Busch, McHugh was promoted to VP Media, Sponsorship, and Activation where he directed the day-to-day operations of a 170 employee division that managed investments of over $700 million in national and local brand media, sports, digital, and entertainment marketing.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Dan holds a B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of Evansville. He currently resides in Venice, California with his wife Courtney.
Brian joined PBC in 2015 as the Vice President, National Accounts and is responsible for leading the planning and execution within our National Account organization and growing our business with our key chain customers.
Brian is an industry veteran with over 25 years of CPG sales and leadership experience, most recently at Mark Anthony Brands where he spent five years as the Senior Vice President of Sales and the Vice President of Key Accounts. Prior to his time at Mark Anthony Brands, Brian worked for Gold Coast Beverage in South Florida as a General Manager, Red Bull North America as a Director of Sales, and Coors Brewing Company both in key account leadership positions and field sales leadership positions. Brian also spent time working with Nabisco Brands and Frito Lay before moving over to the beverage business.
As Chief Growth Officer of Pabst Brewing Company, Rich is responsible for portfolio performance, integration, and cross functional strategic support of all PBC Departments. This responsibility includes Integration, Business Insights, National Projects, Network Development / RTM strategy, Business Planning, PR, and Strategic Imperatives.
Rich brings 18+ years in the beverage industry, with a dynamic blend of leadership roles ranging from commercial to strategic. Prior to joining PBC in May 2011, Rich held a variety of leadership roles with Diageo, Terlato Wines, and Red Bull North America. Rich’s previous roles exposed him to diverse areas of the beverage business including sales, brand and trade marketing, distribution strategy, pricing, category and product development, national training, and global integration.
Rich, his wife, and children currently reside in Bentonville, AR.
Neil is the EVP of Brewing Operations for Pabst Brewing Company overseeing the supply chain, brewing, procurement, quality assurance and restaurant / retail divisions. From the PBC office in Dallas, Neil leads the expansion of our production footprint and successfully integrates partners in the PBC supply chain.
Neil joined PBC from AB InBev where he spent 20 years in progressive leadership roles across engineering, brewery operations, general management, project management and operations finance. Most recently, he served as Director, Global Supply Projects where he led vertical operations expansion. Previously, he was General Manager for the Samlesbury Brewery in the United Kingdom and led the Project Management Office in London responsible for reorganization of the UK supply structure. Prior to his UK move, Neil oversaw global logistics and CAPEX spend as part of the GHQ team in New York.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Neil was educated and Washington University in electrical engineering. Neil now resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife Lori Diamond.
Greg Deuhs is responsible for Brewing, Quality, Research and Product Innovation. Greg’s interest in brewing and breweries dates back to his childhood, while touring with his father the iconic Midwest Breweries of the 1960s & 70s, which many of those brands are in our portfolio today. Prior to joining PBC, Greg served as the Director of Operations for Craft Brew Alliance, where he led and managed the Redhook branded breweries located in Seattle, Washington & Portsmouth, New Hampshire. During the past 25 years, Greg has held senior management roles in the malting, brewing, distilling, and packaging.
A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, he earned the Master Brewer qualification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (London), a Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University, and is a graduate of the Master Brewers Program from the University of California-Davis. In 2008, Greg retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Lieutenant-Colonel where he served in leadership positions on active and reserve duty. He resides in Grafton, Wisconsin,with his wife Helen and daughter Karista, and continues to be fascintated by the iconic American breweries of the last 175 years.
Lyssa is responsible for driving and improving the Company’s people related decisions including talent acquisition, talent management and workforce performance, compensation and benefits, training and development, and employee relations.
Before joining Pabst, Lyssa was the Sr Director of Human Resources for Empower RF Systems, a private equity backed wireless communications company in the midst of a strategic and operational transformation. During her four years at Empower Lyssa successfully implemented HR programs to increase effectiveness in the areas of training and development, talent acquisition, performance management and employee relations.
Prior to Empower Lyssa held progressive HR leadership roles within the high tech, video game and manufacturing worlds, thriving in hands-on leadership roles within entrepreneurial environments.
While she now calls Los Angeles home, she grew up in Columbus, Ohio and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
Cordell B. Sweeney is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pabst Brewing Company, where he works with the board of directors, the executive management team and all divisions of the Company and is responsible for accounting and control, business planning and analysis, product pricing, treasury, audit, tax and other key areas of the Company.
Prior to joining the Pabst Brewing Company in October 2012, Cordell spent the past 5 years serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Empower RF Systems, a private equity backed wireless communications company in the midst of a strategic and operational transformation. Cordell was responsible for strategic and financial planning, accounting and control, treasury, audit, tax and shareholder relations as well as the human resources, information technology, export compliance and business affairs functions.
When Cordell was with Direct TV Group for 11 years, the company experienced rapid growth from 2.5 million customers and $600 million in revenue to over 16 million customers and $16 billion in revenue, respectively. Cordell played an instrumental role in ensuring the finance organization scaled with the Company’s growth as well as having a leadership position on teams that streamlined efficiencies and saved over $1 billion in costs. Cordell also spent 7 years in the audit practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Los Angeles and Newport Beach offices. His clients were primarily in the consumer products, manufacturing and oil and gas sectors.
A native of San Jose, California, Cordell holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California. He is a Certified Public Account licensed in the State of California. Cordell currently resides in Orange County, California with his wife Jannine and their two children.
As the CEO of Small Town Brewery since 2015, Gleb has played a critical leadership role in the innovation and launch of multiple offerings of the “Not Your Father’s,” “Not Your Father’s Taproom,” and “Not Your Mom’s” brands.
Gleb describes himself as an “innovation and technology junkie”, which has made him a great fit to drive the development of the Small Town Brewery business. Prior to joining PBC, Gleb worked with Oasis Beverage in Russia, most recently as Marketing Director non alcoholic beverages, where he was in charge of a portfolio of brands that included Orangina, San Pellegrino, Effect Energy drink and others. Gleb managed a team of 20 employees and was responsible for creating a new successful energy drink brand, Gorilla.
Gleb has lived in Kazakhstan, Israel, Russia, and the US. He was born in Russia and moved to Israel when he was 9 years old. A year later, at the age of 10, he migrated to New Jersey. He attended high school on the Jersey shore and graduated from Syracuse University Whitman School of Management with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
Brian joined PBC as President in 2015 with a focus to integrate the efforts of our Sales Organization, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams into a robust platform capable of selling a diverse portfolio including a wide array of beer styles & price tiers.
Brian has a wealth of experience in the beverage industry in both marketing and sales and is highly regarded by many of our distributors and retail customers. He joined the PBC family following a seven year tenure at Red Bull North America where he most recently served as Vice President – Retail Sales, North America. Prior to Red Bull, Brian held a variety of senior management roles in the wine and spirits industry serving as VP/General Manager, Southern Wine & Spirits (3 years) and a variety of senior roles in chain sales, distributor management, and marketing at Diageo (9 years), Sutter Home Winery, and Young’s Market Company.
Brian has 25 years experience in the beverage space, including beverage alcohol & non-alcoholic brands, in roles that span multiple supply chain tiers, product groups, trade channels, and functional disciplines. Brian was born in Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in marketing. Brian has lived in California since 1992 and currently resides in Orange County with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Brooke.
As Chief Legal Officer of Pabst, Rob oversees all legal functions of the company, including strategic transactions, corporate governance, litigation, regulatory compliance, risk management, contracting and financing transactions. Prior to joining Pabst, Rob held the role of Associate General Counsel at Wesco Aircraft in Valencia, California where he oversaw that company’s contracting, trade compliance, litigation and real estate functions. Prior to Wesco, Rob was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Los Angeles and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in both Los Angeles and New York City where he advised a broad array of clients on financing, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets and general corporate matters.
Rob holds a B.S. in Accounting from University of Maryland, College Park and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Rob, along with his wife and son, reside in Los Angeles, California.
Chris joined PBC in February 2016 and serves as Chief Strategy Officer. His responsibilities include: leading M&A efforts by facilitating and managing key partnerships in our efforts to expand our craft and import portfolio here in the US, Internationalizing PBC brands around the world and leading the Vermont cider and Small Town businesses.
Chris brings over 30 years of experience in the beer, wines and spirits industry with Distell, South African Breweries and HEINEKEN. He is a qualified CPA but has spent most of his corporate life in General Management and Strategy in South Africa and then around the world – Asia, Central America, Europe and South America.
As Director for Asia at SAB Chris consummated the acquisition of 27 breweries in China building the JV into the leader in China with the world’s largest beer brand, Snow. He also engineered the SAB entry into India where today they are the number 2 player.
While at HEINEKEN Chris served as President of Grupa Zywiec, HEINEKEN’s listed Polish business and later as CEO of HEINEKEN Brasil – both of these businesses achieved great results on his watch, growing to over $1 billion each in revenue, and gaining market share, before being appointed as Chief Strategy Officer working with the CEO.
