Eugene Kashper is the Chairman of Pabst Brewing Company, America’s largest independent brewer. He brings over twenty years of experience in the beer industry, including creating and/or launching more than 50 brands of beer and beverages. Eugene served as both Chairman and CEO of PBC from 2014-2016. During this period PBC has strengthened its sales and distribution platform, forged exciting new partnerships with Small Town Brewery, Tsingtao, Vermont Hard Cider Company, and Dog Tag Brewing, and experienced significant revenue growth.
Prior to PBC, Eugene served as Chairman of Oasis Beverages from 2008 to 2014. Oasis operates five brewing and soft drink plants in Eastern Europe with annual sales of approximately 5.4 million U.S. barrels. The company has had great success revitalizing heritage brands and also produces several international beer and beverage brands under license including Bavaria, Oettinger and Carling.
Eugene began his career in the beer industry in 1994 with The Stroh Brewery Company of Detroit, Michigan in international sales, where he worked with many current PBC brands, including Old Milwaukee, Schaefer, Schlitz, Colt 45, and Stroh’s. He graduated from Columbia University in 1992. Eugene resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
A seasoned beer industry veteran with a deep understanding of the U.S. beer market, Simon joined Pabst as CEO on December 1, 2016.
Before joining PBC, Simon was President/CEO of Duvel Moortgat USA, where he led the transformation of the company’s U.S. craft brewing business into a respected leader in the craft beer segment. He was instrumental in building the high-end success of Duvel Moortgat’s Brewery Ommegang in Upstate New York, and established Duvel Moortgat’s partnerships with Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City, MO and Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, CA. He also led the development of Duvel Moortgat’s import brand portfolio including Duvel, La Chouffe, Liefmans, and Mardesous.
Prior to joining Duvel Moortgat, Thorpe led various private equity projects in Europe and was formerly head of strategy, M&A and new markets for InBev and President & CEO of InBev USA. His career has spanned beer, support services, art and stationary, food, and personal care categories in the Americas, Europe and Asia, including senior management positions with Compass, Crayola and Kellogg’s. His early career was with Tambrands and Unilever.
Thorpe was born and educated in England and has spent 12 years living in Belgium and 19 years in the USA. He recently moved to Los Angeles, where Pabst is headquartered, with his wife Kati and son Henry.
Brian joined PBC in 2015 as the Vice President, National Accounts and is responsible for leading the planning and execution within our National Account organization and growing our business with our key chain customers.
Brian is an industry veteran with over 25 years of CPG sales and leadership experience, most recently at Mark Anthony Brands where he spent five years as the Senior Vice President of Sales and the Vice President of Key Accounts. Prior to his time at Mark Anthony Brands, Brian worked for Gold Coast Beverage in South Florida as a General Manager, Red Bull North America as a Director of Sales, and Coors Brewing Company both in key account leadership positions and field sales leadership positions. Brian also spent time working with Nabisco Brands and Frito Lay before moving over to the beverage business.
Greg Deuhs is responsible for Brewing, Quality, Research and Product Innovation. Greg’s interest in brewing and breweries dates back to his childhood, while touring with his father the iconic Midwest Breweries of the 1960s & 70s, which many of those brands are in our portfolio today. Prior to joining PBC, Greg served as the Director of Operations for Craft Brew Alliance, where he led and managed the Redhook branded breweries located in Seattle, Washington & Portsmouth, New Hampshire. During the past 25 years, Greg has held senior management roles in the malting, brewing, distilling, and packaging.
A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, he earned the Master Brewer qualification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (London), a Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University, and is a graduate of the Master Brewers Program from the University of California-Davis. In 2008, Greg retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Lieutenant-Colonel where he served in leadership positions on active and reserve duty. He resides in Grafton, Wisconsin,with his wife Helen and daughter Karista, and continues to be fascintated by the iconic American breweries of the last 175 years.
Lyssa is responsible for driving and improving the Company’s people related decisions including talent acquisition, talent management and workforce performance, compensation and benefits, training and development, and employee relations.
Before joining Pabst, Lyssa was the Sr Director of Human Resources for Empower RF Systems, a private equity backed wireless communications company in the midst of a strategic and operational transformation. During her four years at Empower Lyssa successfully implemented HR programs to increase effectiveness in the areas of training and development, talent acquisition, performance management and employee relations.
Prior to Empower Lyssa held progressive HR leadership roles within the high tech, video game and manufacturing worlds, thriving in hands-on leadership roles within entrepreneurial environments.
While she now calls Los Angeles home, she grew up in Columbus, Ohio and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
Brian joined PBC as President in 2015 with a focus to integrate the efforts of our Sales Organization, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams into a robust platform capable of selling a diverse portfolio including a wide array of beer styles & price tiers.
Brian has a wealth of experience in the beverage industry in both marketing and sales and is highly regarded by many of our distributors and retail customers. He joined the PBC family following a seven year tenure at Red Bull North America where he most recently served as Vice President – Retail Sales, North America. Prior to Red Bull, Brian held a variety of senior management roles in the wine and spirits industry serving as VP/General Manager, Southern Wine & Spirits (3 years) and a variety of senior roles in chain sales, distributor management, and marketing at Diageo (9 years), Sutter Home Winery, and Young’s Market Company.
Brian has 25 years experience in the beverage space, including beverage alcohol & non-alcoholic brands, in roles that span multiple supply chain tiers, product groups, trade channels, and functional disciplines. Brian was born in Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in marketing. Brian has lived in California since 1992 and currently resides in Orange County with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Brooke.
As Chief Legal Officer of Pabst, Rob oversees all legal functions of the company, including strategic transactions, corporate governance, litigation, regulatory compliance, risk management, contracting and financing transactions. Prior to joining Pabst, Rob held the role of Associate General Counsel at Wesco Aircraft in Valencia, California where he oversaw that company’s contracting, trade compliance, litigation and real estate functions. Prior to Wesco, Rob was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Los Angeles and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in both Los Angeles and New York City where he advised a broad array of clients on financing, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets and general corporate matters.
Rob holds a B.S. in Accounting from University of Maryland, College Park and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Rob, along with his wife and son, reside in Los Angeles, California.
