Associate Brand Manager – Old Style, National Bohemian

Role Summary:
The Associate Brand Manager plays a support role in the development and implementation of the marketing plans that drive corporate volume and profitability objectives.  Stays abreast of changes in the marketing environment to best serve the objectives of the organization, and adjusts strategies and plans accordingly. Finds creative ways to drive sales volume by effectively promoting the brand(s) in strategic ways with retail partners and consumer-driven sponsorship opportunities.
Areas of Responsibility:

  • Stewards the equity of the brand. Assist in developing, maintaining and consistently communicating a compelling brand position to refresh the top-of-mind image necessary for growth.

  • Demonstrates discipline in providing creative direction and demonstrating leadership by pushing for innovation, gaining alignment on key initiatives and measuring risks

  • Assists in the managing of annual consumer media plans ensuring timely and cost-effective execution of advertising plan and maximizing added value participation with local, regional and national programming opportunities at retail plus events and promotions

  • Plays a role in development of brand event programs and promotions

  • Manages a cross-functional organization, planning and executing initiatives (consumer and trade) to ensure compliance and grow business within each channel of distribution

  • Manages  available data sources (including syndicated data) to monitor state of business including distribution, brand share, promotional effectiveness, and category trends

  • Manages website, online marketing and consumer database initiatives; accountable for managing brand volume and profit targets

  • Assists in the development of the annual brand(s) strategic plan(s)

  • Works with the sales and marketing field to develop priority brands within priority markets

  • Leads the effort to gain and leverage consumer insight, education and loyalty

  • Assists with the creation of brand targets and brand core essence- lifestyle approach is key

  • Works closely with the Brand Manager in activating the marketing mix by developing media plans, promotions and pricing strategies/tactics for wholesalers

  • Develops channel strategies for respective brands

  • Fosters relationships with the field and distributors, understand their perspectives and key levers

  • Manages third party relationships including agencies and vendors

  • Works on managing brand A&P budgets

  • Identifies opportunities for brand building through innovation

  • Supports field requests and account development as appropriate

  • Works on special brand initiatives as requested by the Brand Manager and/CMO.


Qualifications:
Required Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of three to four years of brand and lifestyle marketing experience in CPG (consumer packaged goods) or beverage (beer companies a plus) only if the brand experience matches a fast-paced environment with loyal consumer passion

  • Solid understanding of any, or all, of the following areas: non-traditional advertising, on and off-premise promotions, point-of-sale marketing, local and regional PR with emphasis on alternative sports, art and music

  • Knowledge of DSD alcohol distribution networks, sound relationships with those distributors and knowledge of state’s legalities regarding alcohol promotions a plus

  • Beverage sales, retail programming and event execution are key elements


Required Skills:

  • Must have excellent communication skills to relay and filter information across the board to both the national and regional sales and marketing staff plus the DSD network

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as stellar presentation skills

  • Ability to think strategically and also quickly execute with excellence, problem solving is key

  • Strong analytical and project management skills to impress senior managers and distribution owners

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and meet all deadlines

  • Ability to work in a complex culture as an ambassador for the company

  • Self-driven to achieve goals; high energy level is essential, strong, dedicated work ethic

  • Knowledge in working with beverage distributors is a plus

  • PR and digital/social media experience would be a plus

  • Prepared to represent a beer brand in a professional way


Education

  • A Bachelors degree, preferably in Marketing or Business a must, MBA degree preferred
